What's New

New features, improvements, and fixes to Recipe Studio.

v1.3

Meal Plan Notes

A small but handy addition to meal planning, plus a reliability fix for new accounts.

New Features

Freeform Notes in the Meal Plan

You can now add short text notes to any meal plan slot without linking a recipe — useful for quick reminders like "cereal", "dinner leftovers", or "eating out".

  • Click the + button at the bottom of any meal slot to open an inline input
  • Type your note and press Enter or click Add
  • Notes appear as compact cards alongside recipe entries
  • Remove a note with the Remove button, just like a recipe entry

Bug Fixes

  • New kitchens now always get a default Shopping List created automatically, preventing a redirect loop that sent some new users back to the dashboard on their first visit to Shopping List
v1.2

Multi-List Shopping & Ingredient Sections

Major upgrades to shopping workflows and recipe structure handling.

New Features

Multi-List Shopping

Shopping lists now support multiple named lists per kitchen.

  • Create, rename, and delete lists
  • Switch between lists with tabs directly in Shopping List
  • Set a personal default list so Shopping List opens where you left off
  • Open per-list settings from the list tab for faster management

Per-List Aisles

Each shopping list can now either share kitchen-wide aisles or use its own list-specific aisles.

  • Toggle aisle mode per list
  • Manage list-specific aisles from Settings > Aisles
  • Keep shared aisle mode for simpler kitchens

Ingredient Sections (Multi-Component Recipes)

Recipes can now store and display ingredient sections (for example, "Salad" and "Dressing").

  • Ingredient sections are preserved in recipe data
  • Section headers render in Recipe Detail
  • Kitchen Mode now shows ingredient sections
  • Recipe editing and import flows support section-aware ingredient grouping

Improvements

Better Import Parsing for Plugin-Based Recipe Sites

Ingredient section extraction is now more reliable for common WordPress recipe plugins.

  • Added a plugin parser architecture for HTML ingredient-group detection
  • Added/expanded support for WPRM and Tasty Recipes section mapping
  • Improved section overlay onto flat LD+JSON ingredient arrays

Settings & Shopping UX Refinements

  • Shopping Lists and Aisles settings are better separated and easier to navigate
  • Added direct links from list settings to full settings management
  • Added stronger empty/error/loading handling across list management actions

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed list/category cross-kitchen integrity edge cases with stricter database validation
  • Improved atomicity and fallback behavior when toggling list aisle modes
  • Fixed async UI action handling to ensure errors are surfaced and loading states clear reliably
  • Hardened bulk delete and list-scoped operations to avoid affecting the wrong kitchen/list
v1.1

Feedback & Polish

Several new features and improvements since our initial launch.

New Features

In-App Feedback

Found a bug or have an idea? You can now send feedback without leaving the app.

  • Send Feedback button in the sidebar, available on every page
  • Report this issue button on the error screen — automatically attaches the current URL, browser info, and recent errors so you don't have to describe them
  • Something missing or not working? shortcut on the Help page
  • Bug reports, feature requests, and general feedback are all supported

Improvements

Better Print Layouts

Printing recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists now produces much cleaner output.

  • Recipes: ingredients stack above instructions and content fills the full page width
  • Meal plans: print in landscape so the 7-day grid fits on one page
  • Shopping lists: denser rows and a 2-column layout so more items fit per page

Help Article: Ways to Access Recipe Studio

A new help article covers every way to install and access Recipe Studio — Chrome / desktop PWA, iOS Add to Home Screen, Android Add to Home Screen, and the browser bookmarklet.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an HTML decoding bug in the recipe scraper that could corrupt ingredient names and instructions imported from certain websites
  • Fixed sidebar layout so it always spans the full viewport height
