Drafts

Save recipe imports before you publish them, and finish them later

What Drafts Are For

Drafts let you start a recipe without committing it to your collection. A draft is a work-in-progress import or manual entry that you can review, edit, and publish whenever you're ready. Find them under Drafts in the sidebar.

Saving a Draft

When you add or import a recipe, you'll see a Save as draft option next to the usual save. Choosing it keeps the title, ingredients, and steps as a draft instead of adding the recipe to your collection. You can come back and publish it later.

If you picked a collection before saving, the draft remembers it — publishing later adds the recipe to that collection without you having to choose again.

The Drafts List

The Drafts page lists everything waiting to be published. Each draft shows:

  • Its title (or "Untitled draft" if one hasn't been captured yet)
  • Where it came from — a website, a photo, or a manual entry
  • How long ago you saved it
  • A status badge: Processing, Ready, Failed, or Expired

Published drafts leave the list automatically, since they're recipes now.

Clearing Out Drafts in Bulk

When you have several drafts to clean up, you don't have to open each one:

  • Use the checkboxes to Select the drafts you want, or Select all at the top of the list.
  • Discard selected removes just the ones you picked (the button shows how many).
  • Discard all clears every draft, including ones further down the list you haven't scrolled to yet.

You'll be asked to confirm first, and discarding can't be undone. If a draft can't be removed, it stays selected so you can try again.

Reviewing and Publishing

Open any draft to finish it:

  • Ready drafts open in the same editor you use for recipes. Make any changes, then Publish to add the recipe to your collection — or Save to keep editing later.
  • Processing drafts show what's been captured so far while the import finishes.
  • Failed drafts explain what went wrong and keep whatever was already captured, so you can Enter manually without starting over.
  • Discard draft removes a draft you no longer want. This can't be undone.

Importing From Your Phone

When you share a recipe page or a photo of a recipe to Recipe Studio from your phone, it lands in Drafts. Review and publish it the next time you're at your computer.

How Long Drafts Last

Drafts are deleted 30 days after you last save them. Each draft shows a countdown ("Expires in 5 days") as that date gets close, so publish or discard anything you want to keep before then.
