Settings
Customize your account, theme, measurement units, and shopping list aisles
Accessing Settings
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar to open your preferences.
Settings is organized into a navigation rail with each area on its own page, grouped into:
- Kitchen — Shared kitchen, Aisles, Shopping lists, and Recipe tags
- You — Account, Preferences, and Data & export
On mobile, Settings opens to a compact index — tap a section to open it, and use the back link to return.
Account
The Account page lets you manage your profile, email, and security (such as your password and connected sign-in methods) directly in Recipe Studio, without leaving for a separate sign-in flow. Use the Sync action if your details look out of date after making a change.
Preferences
Theme
Choose how Recipe Studio looks:
- Follow System — match your device's light or dark setting
- Light
- Dark
Theme changes apply instantly and are remembered on your next visit.
Measurement Units
Choose between Imperial (cups, ounces, pounds, Fahrenheit) and Metric (grams, milliliters, kilograms, Celsius) for recipe display. As Added keeps quantities exactly as they were entered.
This setting affects how quantities are shown throughout the app. It does not automatically convert existing recipes — it changes the default unit label for new recipes.
Aisles
Aisles are the categories used to organize your shopping list. Recipe Studio includes common defaults (Produce, Dairy & Eggs, Meat & Seafood, etc.), but you can customize them to match your store's layout.
Each shopping list can either share the kitchen-wide aisles or maintain its own list-specific aisles. Toggle this per list in its settings. When a list uses list-specific aisles, the Aisles page shows that list's aisles while it is active.
Adding a custom aisle:
- Go to Settings → Aisles
- Click Add Aisle
- Enter the name and choose a color
- Click Save
Reordering aisles: Drag aisles into the order they appear in your store for efficient shopping.
Renaming or deleting an aisle: Click the edit icon next to any aisle to rename it or delete it.
Recipe Tags
Use Settings → Recipe tags to keep recipe tags clean and consistent across your collection.
You can use Filter tags to quickly find a specific tag.
Rename a tag:
- Find the tag in the list
- Click Rename
- Enter the new name
- Click Save
Delete a tag:
- Find the tag in the list
- Click Delete
- Click Confirm
Merge a Tag:
- Find the Tag in the list
- Click Merge
- Select the tag you want to merge with
- Click Confirm to save, or edit to cancel the merge
Changes made here are reflected anywhere tags are used in recipes.
Shared Kitchen
The Shared kitchen page shows your current kitchen name and members. Here you can:
- Invite new members
- Remove members (owner only)
- Transfer kitchen ownership (owner only)
- Leave the kitchen (members)
See Sharing & Kitchens for full details.
Data & Export
The Data & export page is where account-wide data actions live, including account deletion. Recipe export and importing from other apps are on the way — you'll see them here when they're ready.
